For the first time in 2021, the Shaw Rocket Fund Kids’ Choice Award was developed for the Canadian Screen Awards, celebrating great Canadian content for kids while giving them a voice in voting for programs they deem worthy of an award. The Shaw Rocket Fund Kids’ Choice Award puts the spotlight on children’s live-action and animated shows at the Canadian Screen Awards.
Congratulations to Wild Kratts on being crowned the inaugural Shaw Rocket Fund Kids’ Choice Award Winner!
Over two rounds of voting, kids across Canada made their selection for favourite Canadian kids show. At the 2021 Canadian Screen Awards virtual event on Thursday, May 20, Wild Kratts was announced as the inaugural winner of this new award, which was created to give kids a voice.
In their acceptance speech, creators Chris and Martin Kratt said,
“It’s the best award we could have won because you [kids] voted for it!”
Shaw Rocket Fund President & CEO, Agnes Augustin, said,

In the series, which has aired for over 10 years, the creature adventuring duo leap into animated action in a half-hour adventure comedy that follows the brothers on hilarious expeditions with wild animals. With animal-inspired gadgets and awesome Creature Power Suits invented by Aviva Corcovado and her team, the brothers use the amazing abilities of animals to rescue their animal friends!
Wild Kratts is available in 189 countries and is translated into 44 languages. It airs on TVO and Knowledge Network in Canada and PBS in the US. Episodes are also available to stream/download via Netﬂix (Canada), iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, Comcast, Verizon, and the PBS KIDS Prime Video Channel.
