Rocket Online Safety Program
Online safety of children is paramount. The Shaw Rocket Fund has created a new digital safety program in partnership with kidSAFE Seal to help Canadian producers ensure a safe environment for kids when creating digital experiences.
All digital content receiving Rocket Fund investment will be certified as safe for kids based on established online safety standards through the kidSAFE Seal Program, an independent safety certification service designed exclusively for children-friendly websites and technologies.
Guidelines and application process to come soon.
What types of digital content are eligible for kidSAFE Seal certification?
- Online game sites
- Educational services
- Virtual worlds
- Social networks
- Mobile apps
- Tablet devices
- Connected toys
- Other similar online and interactive services
All digital content the Rocket Fund invests will require certification. As the Rocket Fund is a huge believer in online safety for kids, we will finance the cost of certification for all digital content we invest in for the first year of the Program (September 1, 2018 – August 31, 2019).
Extending our commitment to a safe online environment for kids and to kick-start safety certification in Canada, the Rocket Fund will also finance the certification of Canadian kids’ digital content that the Rocket Fund has not invested in, or has previously invested in within this pilot program, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
