Project Sunbeam: Kids’ Rights in Canadian Media
Our much-anticipated white paper is here. 5 sections, 49 Key Findings, 137 Supporting Findings and 36 Recommendations. It’s time to put the rights of children and youth first in how we create, fund and govern their media, while taking urgent action to address the crisis facing the Canadian children’s and youth media industry.

Why children’s media matters
Children and youth represent close to 20% of Canada’s population. They are the most connected generation in history, living in an open world and navigating unregulated platforms increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. Production of Canadian children’s content has fallen drastically, dedicated kids’ channels have closed, and global platforms increasingly dominate what Canadian children watch – all while artificial intelligence, online harms, and global pressures reshape childhood. Ensuring children have access to safe, trusted content that reflects their Canadian identity has never been more urgent.

Dedicated to Canadian and Indigenous kids
Supporting and investing in content for kids is at the core of what we do.

A focus on Canadian-made programming and the industry fuelling it
We proudly spotlight exciting and innovative happenings among our programs, at the Rocket Fund and throughout the Canadian kids media industry.
