Shaw Rocket Prize

With the Shaw Rocket Prize, the Shaw Rocket Fund aimed to recognize and reward leaders who produce quality children’s screen-based media in Canada. In order to acknowledge the vast audiences we represent in kids’ programming, the Prize presented $25,000 to each of three categories – preschool, children’s and youth/family – for the best Canadian media experiences on any device, for a total of $75,000 in Prize money.

The exceptional programming of our finalists and winners over the years serves as a testament to Canada’s leadership role in developing exceptional content for kids and families.

The Prize was awarded for the best overall digital and TV experience. Games and websites, as well as any other relevant online experiences the program has to offer the target audience, such as social media, are just as important as the linear TV content.

The Shaw Rocket Prize was created as a way to showcase Canada’s amazing children’s television and digital programs. After 11 incredible years and a significant evolution of the industry, it’s time for the Shaw Rocket Fund to find new, innovative ways to support the Canadian kids’ media industry, the way the Rocket Prize did for so many years. We are proud of its history and look forward to our new and exciting initiatives.

International Jury

Top buyers of kids’ programming from around the world sat on our International Jury. These buyers brought their expertise, knowledge and insight to the judging process. The International Jury viewed all eligible programs and their related digital content in order to select the top three programs per target audience as finalists. See who has been part of our jury.

Kids Jury

The Shaw Rocket Fund’s goal has always been to include kids in what we do, and what better way to do this than to have Canadian kids—the audience—choose their winner? Kids from across the country screened the finalist programs and digital content, and voted for the one that gave them the best overall media experience.
