Shaw Rocket Prize
With the Shaw Rocket Prize, the Shaw Rocket Fund aims to recognize and reward leaders who produce quality children’s screen-based media in Canada. In order to acknowledge the vast audiences we represent in kids’ programming, the Prize presents $25,000 to each of three categories – preschool, children’s and youth/family – for the best Canadian media experiences on any device, for a total of $75,000 in Prize money.
The Rocket Prize is proud to promote Canada’s best and to showcase the calibre of kids’ shows made in this country. The exceptional programming of our finalists and winners over the years serves as a testament to Canada’s leadership role in developing exceptional content for kids and families.
The Prize is based on votes for the best overall digital and TV experience. Games and websites, as well as any other relevant online experiences the program has to offer the target audience, such as social media, are just as important as the linear TV content.
2016 Shaw Rocket Prize Winners
Our national Kids Jury selected these three programs as the best overall experience for 2016! Congratulations to Kate & Mim-Mim, Slugterra, and L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables. Check out more past winners here.
We are fortunate to include top buyers of kids’ programming from around the world on our International Jury. These buyers bring their expertise, knowledge and insight to the judging process. The International Jury views all eligible programs and their related digital content in order to select the top three programs per target audience as finalists. See who has been part of our jury.
The Shaw Rocket Fund’s goal has always been to include kids in what we do, and what better way to do this than to have Canadian kids—the audience—choose their winner? Kids from across the country screen the finalist programs and digital content, and vote for the one that gives them the best overall media experience. Find out more.
